Reading the essay "The Book Of Dead" By Catherine Venable Moore became a little more questionable on why many of these people died , i know that there religion played a big role in this , they believed in the after life and wanting to bring people back to life . They prayed to talk to the dead but after reading the essay , i wasn't sure on why would they want to disturb the dead and not letting them rest in peace. What was it so important to them?

  1. This is a good question, Ashley. Let's think about more famous episodes of mass deaths: the Holocaust, the Trail of Tears of the American Indians, the kidnapped Africans who died in the Middle Passage on the way to be slaves in the New World. Why do people tell these histories? Some would argue, as you seem to, that the dead should "rest in peace." Do you agree concerning these other histories?
