In the text " The Reader is a Protagonist" we learn about an ex wife and her family running away from her ex husband . We learned that he is a murderer , yet the wife isn't clear  she states "he wanted me to see him, as someone to be mortally feared. He was instructing me ,  in the clearest way , as to what he was capable of". She doesn't know , not sure whether he did it or not . Back then she didn't see any false hope in him because he said "Baby my life is an open book". But realizing it that after they were married , things changed between them , and he would always say "Never judge a book by its cover" .
