How does the essay comment on race?

In the essay black people are looked down upon and not treated fairly. In the accident where the workers were exposed to dangerous chemicals(silica dust) hundreds of workers died of lung disease.  Most of the workers were black people.  When they needed a place to be buried the main cemeteries would not accept the bodies because of their color.  Also when the company issued settlements the black workers received much less money than their fellow workers.
